Another part of the process of gathering content for the first issue was to talk to students who had submitted work as part of our student highlight section. All of this was done over email, with interview questions being sent over, as well as requests for images. Some of the correspondence was done by myself, some was done by other members of the team who knew the person that had submitted or was more able to commit to it.
This was a good chance to work well as a team. With set deadlines in place for each person's contribution (and layout if requested) this meant that I was able to keep the project structured and less likely to be stressful as the print deadline loomed.
This did mean a lot of organizing, which I found quite difficult to get used to. Especially since I'm friends with all the members of the team, it was hard to make sure to keep business and friendship separate when it was in regards to the print deadlines etc. I had to make sure that despite being friends with these people, that they knew I was being serious when I wanted something done by a certain point, which was quite a steep learning curve for me.
